Progress presentation at Burnage Media Arts College in Manchester

Great progress is being made at Burnage Media Arts College as the new school takes shape.

On Wednesday, 1st July 2009 a special ceremony and photo opportunity took place to mark the completion of the steelworks for the new building. A representative group of students, staff, construction team and dignitaries and officials from Manchester Council marked this defining stage in the development of the new school by signing the final beam to go in place as the steel structure was completed.

The school is part of the Building Schools for the Future initiative and visitors to the school can now see the scale of the project. It is due for completion, ready to open by September 2010, when next year's intake of Year 7 students will be the first to take advantage of the excellent, up-to-the-minute facilities available at the new Burnage Media Arts College.

Councillor Sheila Newman, Manchester City Council Executive Member for Children's Services says: "Burnage Media Arts College is part of Manchester's extensive Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme. BSF is about completely transforming the way children learn and providing world class teaching and learning environments for all pupils, teacher and communities. It's about transforming the face of education for generations to come, providing learning environments in which every young person can unlock their talents and achieve their very best."
